The home delivery service My Food Bag has decided to terminate a three year partnership with the Hamilton-based Chiefs rugby team after some unwelcome publicity last month. The incident involved players and a stripper at a hot pools venue in the Waikato.
The stripper complained she was touched by a number of Chiefs players .
In a brief statement released this afternoon My Food Bag founder and CEO, Cecilia Robinson said “the recent conduct at the post-season event was insupportable and does not reflect the values of My Food Bag, its staff or the thousands of families that My Food Bag serves each week.
“We wish the club and its players well and hope they will put appropriate processes in place to prevent anything such as this from happening again.”
My Food Bag will continue its strategy of sponsoring individual athletes.
The company has also confirmed it will donate the remaining Chiefs sponsorship fees for 2016 to the women’s refuge.
