Spark has extended the roles it shares with Clemenger Group by appointing retail agency .99 win as the lead creative agency for Spark Digital.

Neither party will say if there was a pitch, or an incumbent (believed to be Goodfolk).

Spark Digital brand communications manager Tessa Tierney said (in a prepared statement): “Spark Digital is a world-class digital services provider and an integral part of the Spark family. The company is designing exciting and disruptive solutions for New Zealand businesses, supporting their success locally, and wherever they operate in today’s globally connected world.

“The last 12 months have been an exciting time for the Clemenger Group of companies, having now unified all the Spark business under one group structure. It not only reflects the consolidation trends in the global market place, but represents a new paradigm for marketing activities at Spark – the nation’s leading digital services provider.

“Spark Digital’s relationship with .99 is new business for Clemenger Group, extending its strategic and creative role across Spark.

“.99 will work as Spark Digital’s lead agency with a focus on customer experience strategy and data-driven content marketing.

“Much of Spark Digital’s work is concentrated on creating ‘transformative customer connections’ – and there are many success stories. .99 will be charged with bringing these inspiring stories to life and engaging with decision makers in the country’s leading businesses.

.99 managing director Paul Manning said: “Together, we’ll be developing truly exciting work at the intersection of creativity, data and technology.

“Our work will be closely coordinated to deliver best-in-class, integrated solutions.”

Manning joined .99 from Ogilvy at the end of 2015 – and this is the agency’s first good win since his arrival.
