MDS launches Weekend Workshops (updated)

Auckland’s Media Design School has launched a series of weekend workshops that are designed to address the increasing demand for short courses in coding, game development, user experience, social media community management and digital design in New Zealand.

These specialist workshops, which will be held at Media Design School’s central Auckland campus, will expose participants to an array of tools, tips, and transferable skills in the fields of new and emerging digital technologies, including basic proficiencies in Adobe Photoshop; Adobe After Effects; Unity 5; and a range of programming languages including HTML and CSS; JavaScript, Python; C++; and C#.

The first series of workshops also include a number of featured workshops with industry practitioners who are leaders in their respective digital fields.

Tara Brannigan, community manager at Wipster and former community manager at PikPok, will be running a workshop entitled Building Your Community on Social Media on Saturday 19 September; Auckland-based director of user experience design agency Lushai, Matt Gould, will be running an Introduction to User Experience Design course on Saturday and Sunday the 19th and 20th September; and digital artist Link Choi will run an introductory Digital Painting in Photoshop workshop on Saturday and Sunday, the 12th and 13th of September.

The Power Up Weekend Workshops will also feature a range of Media Design School’s award-winning lecturers and tutors, who come from a diverse array of digital disciplines.
