Erectile dysfunction campaign a winner

Douglas Pharmaceuticals medical marketing manager Mike Siermans has won the Supreme Award at the NZ Self-Medication Industry Association Marketing Awards in Auckland for his company’s world-first sildenafil erectile dysfunction treatment reclassification and Silvasta marketing campaign. Douglas Pharmaceuticals markets sildenafil in New Zealand under the Silvasta brand name.  

SMI is the consumer healthcare products industry body. The awards are in their seventh year.

The winning campaign, which saw New Zealand men become the first in the world to access a generic ED treatment, known as sildenafil, direct from trained pharmacists without a prescription, also won the Best Launch or Relaunch of a Consumer Healthcare Product category. The award was for a joint entry in this category by Mike Siermans and Dr Natalie Gauld of Pharma Projects. Runner-up in the same category was Jo Nolan of Vitaco Health for her Joint Care Advanced campaign.

The trophy for Best Integrated Marketing Campaign of a Consumer Healthcare Product went to Kylie Jillings of Blackmores NZ for the Blackmores Supports Kids’ Immunity campaign. Cici Ji of RB New Zealand was runner-up in this category for the Optrex Actimist campaign.

The Douglas Pharmaceuticals’ Silvasta campaign was also the winner of the Best Healthcare Professional Campaign category.  The runners-up in this category were Green Cross Health’s Lauren Kilkolly and RB New Zealand’s Cici Ji for their Mucinex campaign.

Sailen Mudaly of RB New Zealand won the Best Self Care Campaign category for his “Winter Wellness” campaign. There was no runner up in this category.
