Ogilvy has produced a promo for Countdown which will see the chain – sponsors of the NZ Olympic team – send four Kiwis to the Rio Olympics, plus give away $10,000 in gold every day from now Monday 6 March.

The Go for Gold promotion encourages shoppers to swipe their Onecard to be in with a chance to win. Onecard users will also get additional bonus entries for specially marked Olympics products.

“We know how passionate Kiwis are about sport and we’re excited to give four lucky couples the chance to be at the Rio Olympic Games,” said Countdown’s General Manager of Marketing Bridget Lamont.

“And while Olympic athletes, like Countdown Ambassadors Hamish Bond and Eric Murray, train for years for the chance to compete and win gold, we’re giving Kiwis a chance to win gold by simply swiping their Onecard and spending $20.”

Countdown has leveraged its ambassadorial relationships with Hamish Bond and Eric Murray heavily throughout the campaign, which includes TVC.

Countdown will be calling winners daily.
