Y&R managing director Steve Kane has asked M+AD to put some distance between his agency and Animates – which yesterday awarded its advertising business to bcg2.
The M+AD story pointed out that the incumbent was Y&R – our back files provided this information; it did not come from bcg2. And Kane wants to put the record straight:
“Just to clarify your Animates story, Y&R and Animates haven’t worked together since September last year,” he said. “Your story implies we were part of the pitch by stating we were the incumbent, which we weren’t.
“If you could correct that it would be greatly appreciated.”
M+AD accepts that the Y&R-Animates relationship has come to an end – but technically, at least – they were still the incumbent.
