Arrivals & Departures: Christie exits Big Mobile, Pead taps young journo

After eight years at Big Mobile, Sydney-based CEO Graham Christie is departing the business “to pursue fresh ventures”. “It’s a long time coming, but the time is right,” he told M+AD. “My immediate next step is a short break, as I’ve earned it, my wife tells me.”

As a co-founder, Christie has been at the helm of a business that has grown from its modest Sydney and Melbourne roots to become an 80-strong staffed mobile leader in seven offices across ANZ (including Auckland), and South-East Asia.

“Now is the right time to leave the strong senior team I’ve assembled – particularly over the past 12 months – to take the business forward, and for me to focus my attention elsewhere,” he said.

Christie’s resume covers both brand, telecom, and agency side roles in the UK and Australia before embarking on establishing the mobile start-up and maturing it into category leadership.

He would not be drawn on what’s next, but said: “The changing relationship between people and the brands they choose, and subsequently how businesses adapt, continues to really motivate me – so I’m not going far.”

Big Mobile co-founder/chairman David Green is stepping into the CEO position until a new appointment can be made.

Pead PR taps Ellen Dorset
