In a moment of creative genius Adshel and Genesis Energy have come up with a heated bus shelter for commuters in downtown Auckland. It’s temporary but could be worth a visit if you’re in the area over the next week.

What Adshel and Genesis have done is create what they’ve called a unique and immersive installation in the heart of Auckland’s CBD. In a New Zealand first, an Adshel bus shelter has been fitted with heated seats, transforming it into a warm and cosy space for travellers, as part of Genesis Energy’s ‘Happy Winter’ campaign.

Commuters are encouraged to take a photo of themselves on the heated seats and upload it publicly to social media with the hashtag #GenesisEnergy, to enter the draw to win one of five Samsung tablets.

Adshel New Zealand’s Sales and Marketing Director, Ben Gibb, said: “This installation is another great example of how Adshel’s street level presence enables clients to bring campaigns to the people in real and meaningful ways.

“The ‘Happy Winter’ campaign is fun and simple, and lends itself perfectly to this immersive street furniture installation, warming commuters’ hearts – and backsides! – to keep them happy this winter, and build awareness of the Genesis Energy brand and product offering.”

Richard Gordon, Public Affairs Manager at Genesis Energy, said: “We love the way that Adshel has brought the ‘Happy Winter’ creative concept to life. Our objective was to amplify the TV and online campaign with an outdoor activation, promoting Genesis Energy’s electricity and natural gas plans in an entertaining way.

“Feedback so far has been fantastic, and the combination of the immersive experience and competition on social media will further boost engagement with our customers.”

The Genesis Energy installation is live until September 5, on Quay Street, Auckland.
