The 9th annual Battle of the Ad Bands kicks off tonight at the Kings Arms, with MC Mikey Havoc running the show. At press time this morning, CAANZ reports sales of 383 ticket.
Six agency bands have been practising their Boy and Girl Band hits in the hopes of winning bragging rights, a bunch of “amazing” prizes and of course, the coveted Botab trophy.
There are no cash door sales but if your Thursday suddenly frees up, tickets will be available on Eventfinda to purchase in the cab on the way over. “We recommend you get your ticket now before they’re gone or you might be singing “Why, Why, Why” instead of “Bye, Bye, Bye”, says Katie Ward of CAANZ.
“Make sure you print your ticket and bring plenty of business cards because we’ve got great prize draws to enter including bar tabs thanks to Apex Insurance, Franklin Rd and Fortis Travel, Event Cinema tickets, Coffee Supreme, a gourmet My Food Bag, Tui Golden Lager, Fruit Guys fruit deliveries, and Whittakers chocolate.”
Band prizes include a music video recorded by Franklin Rd and produced by Fish&Clips, a full day’s post-production thanks to MandyVFX, a BMW X One for a month, $500 to spend on lunch at Prego, coffee and doughnuts the next day courtesy of Coffee Supreme, a tailored ice cream flavour from MuchMoore Ice-cream, suits from The Syndicate, and a $1500 travel voucher from Fortis Travel.
“So whip out your platform shoes, butterfly clips, and pleather vests for a night your teenybopper self would have died for,” Ward reckons.
