NBR Online reports that NZME chief operating officer Carolyn Luey is quitting the company for a role running MYOB’s New Zealand operation.
She starts her new job with the ASX-listed accounting software company – Xero’s key regional foe – on December 16.
“Ms Luey is the first high-level departure since ‘Hurricane’ Jane Hastings quit the CEO post in April,” writes NBR’s Chris Keall.
“Or, as one former NZME manager told NBR this morning, ‘She’s the first big Hastings cultist to fall’.”
Keall says Luey confirmed her departure “but did not immediately respond to a request for more detailed comment”.
However, NZME CEO Michael Boggs said: “Carolyn is a proven and talented executive who has made a significant contribution to NZME over the five years she has been with the company.
“This role is a natural progression in her career and I wish her every success.”

NZME’s Auckland-based GM Newspaper Sales Matt Wilson has been appointed Acting Chief Operating Officer and will be joining the executive team.
Luey’s last day will be 16 December.
