Transtasman film co Eight (bases in Surry Hills & Herne Bay) has signed Miki Magasiva to its roster of directors.

Born in Savaii, Western Samoa, writer/actor Magasiva hails from a long line of professional performers, artists and storytellers. He is a member of the well-known Samoa/Kiwi Magasiva thespian family (link, below), and has close ties to NZ, where he has spent much of his life.

After graduating from film & television school in Wellington, he moved to London and threw himself into the vibrant UK market. He returned home to New Zealand, and quickly established himself as a hot new commercial director.

Sign up – or else!
“My mum said she’d give me a hiding if I didn’t join Eight, so here I am,” he told Campaign Brief Australia. “So far I’ve seen a great committed team who are hardcore fun and passionate about their work.

“Damn it, I’ll have to step up now!”

Eight managing director/executive producer Katie Millington said: “Miki is a great fit for Eight. We’re in production together on his first job with us and I’m bowled over by his sense of empathy and his natural way with people, from creatives to suits to crew to clients.

“He’s uber talented, he knows his stuff and he might just be the nicest guy in advertising.”
