Company directors Rob Campbell and Tracey Jones are accusing the media – especially National Business Review and the NZ Herald – of hindering gender diversity, reports the NBR pay site.
Campbell & Jones base their accusation on a three-month survey of NBR’s print edition and the business pages of the Herald.
They ranked the photos containing people as either male dominant, female dominant or neutral and found more than 70% of the photos showed male dominance and only 15% showed a female lead.

Campbell says the mainstream media is restricting the likelihood of women putting themselves forward and of management thinking about appointing women because of this limited visibility in the business pages.
Campbell chairs both the Tourism Holdings and Summerset Group boards and both companies have male chief executives.
Jones is a director and audit committee chairman of Harmoney and a fellow director with Campbell at Tutanekai Investments.
