Midas – founded in 2001 by the New York Festival organisation – has a new leader this year, after NYF appointed Scott Rose to the role of Midas executive director.

Rose, a creative session producer & digital assets manager has produced and created showcase presentations for the past four years for the New York Festival’s six awards brands. His role is to recruit prominent industry executives to serve on the 2017 juries, create strategic alliances to benefit both the competition and its entrants and expand its global footprint.

“Scott’s production skills and creativity – along with his dedication to NYF’s brands throughout the years have provided his with both a vast knowledge of how to run a competition and a thorough understanding of the industry,” said NYF CFO Ellen Smyth.

The executive jury is a panel of creative officers and ECDs from global advertising agencies as well as experts in financial policy and communications. The executive jury will review the shortlisted entries selected by the Midas Awards grand jury to provide a more comprehensive evaluation of global creative work.

The categories
The Midas Awards invites entries in the following five category sections: Consumer, Business to Business, Use of Discipline, Use of Medium and Craft.

This year the competition unveiled 12 new categories, eight within the consumer categories, three into b2b categories, and one in Use of Discipline.

“Midas’ expanded roster of categories mirror the changes taking place within the industry today,” said Rose. “By offering additional categories in consumer within the banking and insurance sectors provides opportunities to showcase the terrific creative emanating from around the globe. Additional categories in Business to Business address the growth we are seeing in work created within the financial planning and retirement arena.”

Midas awards Gold and Silver Ingots to the highest scoring entries, and presents the Grand Midas to the Best in Show.

The results of the juries are parsed in an annual rankings brief, The Midas Report, — a who’s-who in the world of financial services advertising that includes the three individual reports: Agency, Brand and Network.
