The Outdoor Media Association of NZ has appointed Adshel NZ GM Nick Vile as its new chairman. “The move comes at a time when the out-of-home sector has experienced stellar growth over the last two years,” said OMANZ GM Derek Lindsay.

Revenue for OMANZ members grew by 18% for 2017, and now contributes over $120 million in revenue to the NZ advertising landscape. “Growth in the sector is set to continue in 2018 as OMANZ operators continue to implement plans for further digitalisation, plus continue to add value through advancements in ad tech, audience profiling and data capability,” Lindsay said.

Nick Vile said: “As a long term advocate of out-of-home media and member of the executive board of OMANZ, I am excited to play a role in bringing the direction and vision of the sector to life.

“The out-of-home market has obviously experienced impressive growth over recent years reflecting the investment OMANZ members have made in their respective offerings, but also reflects the increased importance that the medium plays in advertisers’ media channel strategy and communication plans.

“This increased importance means an increased focus on effectiveness and accountability from the sector, including audience measurement.

“OMANZ media display members are Adshel, APN Outdoor, oOh! Media, Media5 and QMS.”

“Alongside Derek Lindsay and the OMANZ Executive Committee, I am committed to driving this initiative forward. We have already started the first step in the process of establishing a universally accepted audience measurement solution and we will be making further announcements in that regard over the coming weeks.

“Additionally, as OMANZ represents 80% of the OOH industry, we are at a stage where we are increasing our voice and investment on key industry issues. We will continue to liaise with councils and government organisations to ensure that we are provided with consistent and sensible guidelines for site consents, and take a leadership position on issues affecting the sector.”

Vile takes over from Wayne Chapman who has been chair of the association for the last five years.

“I would personally like to thank Wayne for his commitment to the sector over his tenure as OMANZ Chairperson, he has presided over the sector during a period of unprecedented growth, and at the same time lead the evolution of his own business,” Vile said.

OMANZ media display members are Adshel, APN Outdoor, oOh! Media, Media5 and QMS.
