The Comms Council has issued the entry call for the 2018 Battle of the Ad Bands – the 11th annual edition of this classic music event in Auckland. So far, only a broad outline is provided – but more info will be forthcoming shortly.

This year, bands will perform as many songs as they like within the allotted 15 minutes.

A fee of $300+gst per band applies. “That’s the same price as 10 x amazing Prego pies this winter,” the Comms Council release helpfully points out.

Each band will get a few comp tickets for their groupies. Backline gear on the night provided (full list TBC). You are advised to BYO “leads, drumsticks, guitars, quenas, midriff tops, low crotch jeans, plum coloured lipstick and a smokey eye”.

Bands must be from Commercial Communications Council member agencies, and only one band per agency can enter. But due to popular demand, small agencies only (less than 20 employees) may band together.

“No super-agency super-groups, please. We don’t want no scrubs!”
