Curious Film has signed Australian Lucy Knox to its roster of directors. “She’s a talent swiftly rising, and making a name for herself both in NZ and Australia.,” says Auckland-based Curious MD/EP Kate Roydhouse (in a release).

Knox has won Best Direction for her short An Act of Love at the Australian Directors’ Guild Awards, and a Special Mention for Best Short Screenplay at the Sydney Film Festival.

The film was also recently picked up for distribution by the Criterion Collection.

Roydhouse says Knox has worked in both documentary and narrative forms, “lending a unique quality to her narrative work, focusing on authentic performances in visually striking worlds”.

“Now couldn’t be a better time to get involved in commercials.”

Last Man Standing (a “nostalgia-evoking” directed by Knox and frequent collaborator W.A.M. Bleakley) was a Tropfest finalist in 2018, and played at the UK’s leading documentary festival Sheffield DocFest.

“Now couldn’t be a better time to get involved in commercials,” she said. “I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to work on projects with the support of such a stable as lit as Curious.”

Kate Roydhouse: “It’s shaping up to be a busy year for Lucy, with some really cool projects already underway. It’s exciting to bring yet another super talented director into the fold.”

Knox will be working independently, as well as part of the directing duo with W.A.M. Bleakley.
