SINGAPORE, Last night: One NZ agency stood head and shoulders above the field at the 2018 Tangrams Effectiveness@Spikes awards, presented last night on Day 1 of the Spikes Asia – and that was PHD, who took away the top prize (Media Strategy Agency of the Year), a Gold, three Silvers, and three Bronzes.
The Tangrams are Asia Pacific’s foremost regional effectiveness and strategy awards showcasing the most effective brand communications from across the region.
The PHD NZ Gold came in the Integrated Use of Media category for Skinny Mobile The best Freekend Christmas ever!, which also won a Bronze.
The agency also scored two Bronzes for Genesis (in Digital Innovation) and Newshub (in Publications & Media).
No other NZ agency made the playoffs.
Mindshare was named the Network of the Year, PHD New Zealand won Agency of the Year in Media Strategy, and CHE Proximity Australia was named Agency of the Year in the Effectiveness and Digital Strategy streams.
In all, the juries bestowed 92 Tangrams—three platinums, 33 golds, 28 silvers and 28 bronzes—from the shortlist of 167.
On a country basis, Australia led with 28 nods, followed by China (25) and India (9), Hong Kong (8) and New Zealand (7).
