AUCKLAND, Today: Documentary series Church Road Journeys of Discovery has picked up a gold trophy at the New Zealand Cinematographers Society Awards.
The work was produced at 99 & Raydar’s production arm, The Workshop, with in-house director of photography Grégoire Aubourg.
The four-part series follows Church Road’s chief winemaker Chris Scott as he visits other passionate Kiwi craftspeople to share in their knowhow and inspiration. The episodes include conversations with fashion designer Kiri Nathan and furniture maker David Trubridge.

“It’s kind of a big one, and would mean a lot to any cinematographer,” said Aubourg. “Gold is a great recognition, especially coming from such highly talented cinematographers. Hopefully it makes 99, Raydar, Church Road and the crew proud as well.”
The NZCS holds the awards every year, which recognise world-class cinematography in New Zealand”. Hundreds of entries are judged by some of the best directors of photography and cinematographers in the country.
Past winners at the NZCS awards include Hunt For The Wilderpeople, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Black Mirror.
