AUCKLAND, Last month: New Zealand out-of-home company Go Media is claiming a world first for its two new digital screens in NZ’s most western point at Gisborne – the first ad signs to see the light of a new day.

“It was important we launch these screens ahead of Christmas as there are many summer campaigns that Gisborne is highly relevant for,” said Go Media director Dean Shaw.

The double-sided site on Wainui Road reaches audiences heading into Gisborne from the suburbs of Kaiti, Wainui and the East Coast beaches. The site at the entrance of The Esplanade is a favourite of tourists visiting the Gisborne Wine Centre and a range of hospitality venues nearby.

“Gisborne has traditionally been a tough town to secure billboard consents but with a bit of tenacity, we were able to get the job done,” Shaw said.

“The ability to upload creative to the screens has also eliminated the barriers of time and cost which are typically associated with selling classic billboard sites outside of the big cities.”

The launch of Gisborne has boosted Go Media’s digital network to 40 screens in 14 regions.
