Peugeot taps Contagion

Freemans Bay indie Contagion has won the Peugeot NZ business after a pitch. Peugeot had been set adrift in July when Republik – which had held the account for 10 years – resigned it after picking up Volvo.

Platform 29, Creative Bank and The Brand Agency are said to be among the unsuccessful pitchers.

“With Contagion, we have found an agency who demonstrate the same values, ambition and passion for the automobile industry that we have for the Peugeot brand, and look forward to our joint future success,” said Sime Darby Auto general manager Grant Smith.

“We have been actively looking for the right car brand for a while now,” said Contagion ceo Dean Taylor. “Peugeot share our passion and we couldn’t be happier.”

ECD Bridget Taylor said: “The opportunity for Peugeot is huge, so too is their passion for great work. They are brave, smart and nice people, which are all the ingredients we need to create head-turning work.”

Contagion will handle the full integrated account, including strategy, media, creative and sponsorships. It was unclear at press time if the appointment signals more local creative for Peugeot – which usually repurposes international campaigns for NZ.
