The critically acclaimed lifestyle, current affairs, and culture channel VICELAND will rebrand to VICE, starting Wednesday 27 February, on SKY.

VICE (SKY Channel 13) will continue to offer audiences across New Zealand a contemporary take and diverse range of programming on culture, music, news, food, drugs, identity, sexuality, fashion, sports, and more.

VICE will launch with its hotly anticipated new nightly show – VICE LIVE (Wednesday 27 February, 9.35pm). VICE LIVE taps directly into the core of VICE‘s DNA – fearless irreverence, boundless curiosity, and a DIY sensibility. Originating out of VICE’s buzzing Brooklyn Headquarters, VICE LIVE will be recorded live and cover all of the day’s hottest topics and trends, capitalising on VICE‘s deep bench of young creators with diverse voices from its offices around the world. The show will be broadcast “as live” on VICE in New Zealand.

The show will be a platform for audiences to frame the rapidly-shifting, absurd, and often messy culture around them, magnifying the multi-faceted lifestyle/cultural content and commentary that VICE was built on. Whether it’s on the culture at-large or specific trends in food, fashion, sex, drugs, music, video games, and beyond VICE LIVE will be hyper-topical, but far from journalistic – it is the VICE guide to right now.

The nightly show will feature a panel of sharp, funny, and pop-culture-obsessed polymath panellists, each with their own distinct and authentic points of view: comedian/actress Marie Faustin; writer/comedian/internet provocateur Zack Fox; comedian/director/photographer Sandy Honig, and rapper/host Fat Tony.

“The relaunch of our channel as VICE with our new nightly entertainment show VICE LIVE, marks the first in a number of exciting new programming moves for 2019,” says Charlotte Hill, Director of Content. “VICE LIVE will cover the week’s hot topics, capitalising on VICE‘s vast community of young talent and creators; it will include celebrity guests, music performances, live remotes, and pre-recorded content. The dynamic and experimental show epitomises what VICE is known for – energy, curiosity, and compelling storytelling delivered to viewers in a voice that is unique to VICE, and one that resonates with young New Zealanders.”

“Since the launch of VICELAND on SKY in 2016, hundreds of thousands of our younger customers have become hooked on the unique storytelling of VICELAND’s original programming – from award-winning shows like Gloria Steinem’s Woman, and scripted series such as What Would Diplo Do, through to fan favourite, F***, That’s Delicious with Action Bronson. The upcoming VICE LIVE show will be a welcome addition to what is already a broad selection of cutting edge and culturally relevant content for Kiwis. VICE will continue to deliver a broad and entertaining selection of cutting edge and culturally relevant content for those curious about their world,” says Maria Barlow-Cooper, SKY’s Head of Affiliate Channels.

To lead the daily show, VICE has hired executive producer Jeremy Hutchins (VH1 LIVE) and director Joe Perota (Last Week Tonight) who will work alongside VICE executive producers Nomi Ernst Leidner (SVP of development and EP of the Emmy-nominated Gaycationand Woman), Jeff Sammon (Desus & Mero, Jimmy Kimmel Live) and Catherine Whyte (VICE’s EVP and head of production, MTV’s The Hills).

VICE is available on the SKY platform as part of the SKY Starter package. It is also available to live stream on SKY GO and selected shows are available for Catch Up on SKY GO and SKY On Demand.
