AUCKLAND, Tuesday: M+AD ed David Gapes was hospitalised during a doctors’ strike at Auckland Hospital over the weekend. Gapes underwent extensive testing and doctors have confirmed that he does have a heart.

Images captured during his short stay show that the usually reclusive Gapes’ pain reflex and sense of humour appear to be functioning normally.

Gapes said, “I’m absolutely thrilled with the fantastic treatment I received and given the doctors were on strike at the time I can’t believe I was treated so well.”

“I give the Auckland Hospital nurses and doctors 10 out of 10.”

Registrar William Harris who attended to Gapes said, “I’m glad David is leaving so soon.” He seemed mildly pleased to have Gapes’ support for their industrial action.

The expert removalist was Nurse Kelera Batiwala.
