NEW YORK, Tuesday: Kiwi expat Malcolm Poynton, now the London-based global chief creative officer at Cheil Worldwide, has been selected as jury member for the Clio Awards – to be held in NYC on Wednesday 25 September.

Poynton will be one of 150 jurors this year at this year’s 60th Clios. The 50% female and 50% male juror pool represents 28 countries, including Australia, Germany, China, Mexico, Canada, India, Switzerland and Brazil.

Poynton will sit on the Direct/Experiential/Events jury.

Poynton is also an honorary coach for the NZ Yachting Federation. He has worked at several large agencies (including Saatchi and Ogilvy) but his direct connections with the NZ ad world are distant – he started out in NZ at the agency that eventually became the BBDO NZ group (his Linkedin page doesn’t list the actual agency).

Poynton is, he says, “a passionate lover” of New Zealand art.
