LONDON, Today: PHD Auckland’s DB Export Beer Bottle Sand, and PHD & Colenso BBDO’s Child Replacement Programme were the best examples of creativity, effectiveness and media excellence in 2018, according to the Warc Rankings 2019 report, out this morning.

DDB’s Steinlager Fight For Territory came in at #5 best ad in NZ. Colenso was ranked NZ’s top agency, Pedigree the top brand, and Mars is the top advertiser.

Warc Rankings, successor to the Gunn Report and Warc 100, tracks the results of the most prestigious and rigorous creative, effectiveness and media award shows in the world, as determined by the industry, to provide a global and independent benchmark of marketing success.

To compile Australia and New Zealand’s Best of the Best 2019, Warc combined their results from each of this year’s Rankings – Creative 100, Effective 100, Media 100 – compiled from performances in award shows during 2018.

“Campaigns in the non-profit, public sector and education as well as transport and tourism sectors were prevalent.”

The success of The Child Replacement Programme and SelfieSTIX campaigns helped Pedigree feature highly in both the Creative 100 and Effective 100 and contributed to Pedigree’s ranking as the #1 brand in the region, and its owner Mars the #1 advertiser.

Consequently, Colenso BBDO Auckland, which worked on both campaigns, is the top agency for Australia and New Zealand, and is a significant contributor to the success of BBDO Worldwide as the top network (DAN was #2).

Campaigns within the non-profit, public sector and education as well as transport and tourism sectors were prevalent.

Warc rankings editor Amy Rodgers said: “We’ve deep-dived into the rankings to put a spotlight on the campaigns, and the companies behind them, that champion Australia and New Zealand’s ad industry across creativity, effectiveness and media innovation. The fantastic work produced by such great talent will provide inspiration, ultimately leading to future successes.”
