AUCKLAND, Today: Surely one of the great newspaper headlines of all time? M+AD’s been saving this one for a rainy day. That day has finally arrived!

“Headless Body in Topless Bar” ran on The New York Post’s front page on 15 April 1983. It was penned by the Post’s editor/fiom critic Vincent Musetto.

A critic noted: “As witty as it was horrific, it expressed with unflinching precision the city’s accelerating tailspin into an abyss of atrocious crime and chaos.”
