AUCKLAND, Today: Grafton-based Swish Studios worked with foley artis Suren Unka on the introductory campaign for Lion-owned Christchurch brewery The Fermentist’s official launch of their Kiwi Pale Ale as NZ’s first carboNZero certified beer.

To celebrate, they’re tapping into the global phenomenon of ASMR (autonomous sensory meridian response), the first big Kiwi brand to do so, and releasing an ASMR content piece designed to give drinkers “a meditative moment of taste, sight and sound” while experiencing the KPA’s journey from harvest to hand.

“Think jasmine rice for the barley, and skateboard wheels for the sounds of the conveyor belt.”

ASMR is a deep relaxation sensory effect, as non-vocal, ambient noise plays with the listener’s stereo perception. The Fermentist’s ASMR piece is designed to be experienced while drinking the KPA, for a mindful, relaxing moment that also encourages Kiwis to think about the carbon journey the beer’s been on to get to their hands.

Swish and Unka first captured reference audio onsite and then recreated the sounds – think jasmine rice for the barley, and skateboard wheels for the sounds of the conveyor belt.
