AUCKLAND, Today: Official Botab charity MusicHelps, which aims to use the power of music to help and heal New Zealanders in need, has created NZ Music T-Shirt Day. MusicHelps GM Peter Dickens unveiled the event on stage at Botab on Thursday.
NZ Music T-Shirt Day will take place on Friday 8 November and is billed as “a massive nationwide celebration of Kiwi music and the power music has to make a positive difference in our lives”. It will be presented in partnership with the Vodafone NZ Music Awards on Thursday 14 November at Spark Arena in Auckland.
Dickens said: “It aims to celebrate our Kiwi music legends and our amazing emerging talent.”
“This is a great way for creatives to wear their hearts on their sleeves.”
Participants are invited to make a donation, then wear a favourite Kiwi band t-shirt to show support. Companies participating are encouraged to hold Kiwi music quizzes over Friday drinks and other kiwi music themed events in the workplace on the day.
MusicHelps GM Peter Dickens is hopeful agencies will take up the challenge and set up their own teams in friendly rivalry for the day.
“Creatives have long recognised the power, colour and texture the work of Kiwi songwriters and performers can bring to their campaigns,” he said. “NZ Music T-Shirt Day is a great way to wear your heart on your sleeve!”
Seven NZ Music T-Shirt Day designs have been provided by Lorde, Six60, Herbs, Shihad, Th’ Dudes, True Bliss and Split Enz. They are available online and in-store from JB Hi-Fi. All profits from their sale will go to the work of MusicHelps.
