99 creates retail first Google Tilt brush experience for Spark

AUCKLAND, Today: Spark NZ recently worked with creative agency 99 to launch an immersive virtual reality experience in its Newmarket store as part of a Christmas campaign and ongoing event series.

99 commissioned NZ digital artist Lei Wen to create 3D artworks representing both summer and winter Christmas scenes using the Google Tilt Brush tool and virtual reality.

The works can be explored with a VR headset instore and personalised by customers to share as a 3D Christmas card with friends and family.


“We have been making a conscious shift to elevate the experience in our stores.”

Spark customer marketer James Henson said the business was excited to be partnering with 99 to deliver a new level of experience in stores.

“We have been making a conscious shift to elevate the experience in our stores and our Christmas campaign and event in Newmarket has set a new standard,” he said.

Spark brand experience partner Josh Parrish said the six-week activation, which runs until Tuesday 24 December, was a first for Spark retail stores and signalled a shift towards delivering events and education instore for customers.

This project comes six months after 99 announced the appointment of Danielle Barclay as director of experience design and Craig McKay as head of applied technology to develop a new blended brand experience offer specialising in the intersection of physical and digital.
