AUCKLAND, Yesterday: Marketing strategy consultancy Big Picture is to receive a big makeover. Founder Richard Bourke said: “Since launching in Auckland 18 years ago, Big Picture has delivered game-changing insights and leading marketing strategies for – among others – Spark, NZ Story and Fisher & Paykel.

“Big Picture’s discovery work has been the catalyst for business and brand growth for clients on both sides of the Tasman and helped them earn multiple marketing awards,” Bourke said, in a statement released by Woke PR.

“Now it’s time for some rework of our own.”

“We have some powerful brand equity in Big Picture here in New Zealand but have expanded with new offices in London and Sydney. We needed a name that didn’t compete with similar entities in those markets.”

Bourke says the business is in the process of transitioning to the new company name of One Picture to better reflects its singularity of focus; discovering great opportunities for clients delivered through a collective, team spirit.

“We have some powerful brand equity in Big Picture here in New Zealand but have expanded with new offices in London and Sydney. We needed a name that didn’t compete with similar entities in those markets.

“We chose One Picture because it’s unifying, much needed in our category, and we’ve received good feedback from the market to it as well as our strapline, The Discovery Company.

“With new offices in London & Sydney, we needed a name that didn’t compete with similar entities in those markets.”

“Our focus on ‘discovery’ and ‘seeing what others don’t’, talks to the insights we deliver for our clients that go well beyond traditional research providing genuine commercial advantage for our client partnerships.

“It’s category-relevant but full of stretch. As a team we’re captivated by the idea and the act of looking for the next new, the thrill of uncovering something unknown and the legacy that comes from sharing it well. Our new name and strapline also better align with our team’s shared explorer ethos and shifts us well away from the category of ‘traditional’ research.”

Bourke says the whole team is excited by the prospect of One Picture’s work in London and Sydney adding it feels good to be taking a Kiwi-born business overseas.

“Usually its overseas companies setting themselves up in New Zealand but for us it’s important, when leveraging opportunities for our clients, to be fully immersive so having feet on the ground is critical to delivering on that. We need to be where our clients are and pursue opportunities through their eyes.

“Widening our presence also allows us to seek new collaborations that will support us to further grow and deliver strategy in action that affects positive change for our clients. We have a new ventures division to support start-ups and shareholdings in other businesses. Who we partner with depends on the venture itself and an alignment of our values.”

“We’re growing globally but intent on remaining boutique in that we want to continue delivering bespoke strategy and opportunities for our clients. We want to be big in a small way.

“Our new name and offices are big news for us, but our promise and premise are the same. We’re still intent on promoting and providing for our people, clients and the communities we live in by seeing what others don’t. That hasn’t and won’t change.”
