The Kiwi connection

MELBOURNE, Wednesday: Aussie ad/media site Mumbrella has named Clemenger BBDO Melbourne – with two from NZ at the helm – as its Agency of the Decade.

Former Clemenger Wellington MD Peter Biggs (CNZM) was ceo in Melbourne from 2006 until 2015, when Nick Garrett took over the ceo role – direct from leading Auckland’s Colenso BBDO to be recognised as one of the world’s leading creative shops.

While Garrett’s Kiwi credentials are impeccable, he’s originally a Brit. Biggs is the dinkum article.

Biggs now lives permanently in Godzone – in the South Wairarapa – and currently spends a week each month in Melbourne, where he’s now chair of a fast-growing start-up in Melbourne called Chin & Ching.

“Clems Melbourne enjoyed its finest year in 2017 when it was named Global AoY after scooping 56 Lions.”

“At Clems Melbourne, he was relentless, tough, demanding and brilliant,” said the tribute from the Mumbrella people.

Garrett left the agency in August this year – for parts unknown.

The agency has been behind some of the decade’s most memorable, decorated and effective campaigns.

It enjoyed perhaps its finest year in 2017 when it was named Global Agency of the Year at Cannes after scooping 56 Lions, largely for its Meet Graham work and Hungerithm.
