WELLINGTON, Today: Ad & PR agencies are – as we speak – gearing up for another early general election, after PM Jacinda Ardern yesterday announced the date – Saturday 19 September.

The timing is great for  Ardern as the Government this year has $12 billion to spend on infrastructure, and we can expect news coverage – and ad campaigns – to reflect this almost immediately.

M+AD expects the political parties’ campaign strategies – and agency creative executions – will start rolling out from today. Watch this space.

“The results of the two referenda – on euthanasia & personal cannabis use – will be announced on October 2.”

The Government expects the House will rise on Thursday 6 August, nominations will close on Thursday 20 August, and early voting will start on Monday 7 September.

Cannabis & euthanasia
The Electoral Commission announced that the results of the two referenda held at the general election – on euthanasia and personal cannabis use – would not be announced until October 2.
