AUCKAND, Today: The February entry window is now open for Lumo’s quarterly digital outdoor creativity competition, the Pixel Awards.

Each quarterly winning team will receive $30,000 of free media across the Lumo network, a $5000 cash prize and the Pixel trophy.

All quarterly winners will be judged to find the best idea for the year and that winning team will be rewarded with a $15,000 travel prize for two to SXSW in Austin, Texas in March the following year.

Lumo ceo Phil Clemas said: “Last November, Lumo took a big step into the digital creative space with the successful launch of the Pixels.

“The winning team from Colenso was announced in early December and they are now looking forward to flying out next month to SXSW in Texas.

“A dynamic digital ad is quite different to a static ad campaign for printed billboards.”

“The Pixels were designed to inspire and celebrate dynamic & interactive creativity for the digital out-of-home sector. The competition helps demonstrate the recent and rapid evolution of the outdoor advertising medium, driven primarily by significant investment in digital screen infrastructure and related technologies.

“The initiative was launched to educate and motivate creative thinkers to apply their ideas for chosen and willing clients and help us all showcase the creative opportunities digital OOH has to offer.

“The success of the inaugural Pixel Awards reaffirmed to us that there is a genuine desire by advertisers and agencies to better understand the dynamic capabilities of Digital OOH and to learn how to apply the many creative advantages available.

“The penny has dropped for some of them who now know that producing a dynamic digital ad campaign for our channel is quite different to a static ad campaign for printed billboards.”
