AUCKLAND, Today: Porter Novelli executive director Louise Wright has been promoted to the acting managing director role at the Clemenger Group PR agency following the resignation of Sarah Williams.

Williams is to take up the position of chief marketing & comms officer with Vector in March after 11 years at Porter Novelli, the last three of which have been as MD.

She also served on the Clemenger Group board since mid-2019.

Louise Wright is a former publishing director of ACP (now Bauer Media), and has been with Porter Novelli for the past five years, leading teams working with corporate, consumer and public sector organisations.

She’s also been editor at some of NZ’s best-known consumer magazines, and has worked in newspapers and radio.

Clemenger Group ceo Jim Gall said Williams had led the agency to produce some of best public relations work in New Zealand over the last decade. He praised her honesty, loyalty and dedication to clients, the team and the business.

She is widely respected by us and her peers for her values and for advocating what’s right over what’s easy.

“There are exciting times ahead.”

“Sarah is a proven leader whom the industry rates highly having recently been inducted as a Fellow of the PR Institute of NZ. She is widely respected by us and her peers for her values and for advocating what’s right over what’s easy.

“I want to thank her for her incredible tenure and wish her well.

“But with change comes opportunity and I’m absolutely delighted that Louise is taking on the role. Louise has a unique combination of creative and strategic thinking which she will continue to bring to Porter Novelli clients as their trusted advisor. Louise’s contacts and networks in business and media are unrivalled.

“I have no doubt as managing director she will bring an enormous amount of energy and a fresh perspective to New Zealand’s leading PR agency.”

Louise Wright said she was looking forward to leading the next phase of the agency and honoured to lead an exceptional team and to work with outstanding clients.

“Sarah’s Kate Sylvester’s will be big shoes to fill and we shall all miss her enormously.

“But as 2020 kicks off it’s the time for new beginnings and I can’t wait to get stuck in and lead Porter Novelli alongside our talented executive directors Jane Luscombe and James Walker.

“There are exciting times ahead.”
