The Sweet Shop has signed director Iain Mackenzie, ACS, to its roster of global talent: “Iain is highly-regarded across the industry for his nuanced, carefully observed spots,” said The Sweet Shop CEO/founding partner Paul Prince.

Mackenzie has award winning work for Lexus, Mercedes, Sears, Campbell’s, Visa, DOW, Qantas, Chrysler and the Citigroup.

The people drew me to The Sweet Shop,” Mackenzie said. “We took the time to get to know each other.  Paul put me in touch with the management team and I could see how well they worked together across the world.”

A DOP as well as a director, Australia-based Mackenzie has been called as a “brilliant visualist” by Australian Cinematographer Quarterly and named one of the “Top 20 Directors of All Time” by Campaign Brief.  “His hauntingly beautiful less-is-more aesthetic, and reputation for tirelessly seeking out the perfect, emotionally charged image has lead to success at Cannes, Adfest, the London International Advertising Awards, and MADC among others.

“Iain is a legend,” Prince said. “The quality of his work is so much bigger than what you can see on the screen. It’s in the DNA of everything he does; his tireless focus, his attention to detail, his warm interpersonal style. In short, he is a representative of everything we are and everything we strive to be at The Sweet Shop. We are proud he has chosen to become part of our team.”

The Sweet Shop NZ executive producer Fiona King said: “Iain creates an outwardly visual harmony throughout his work. This visual strength enriches cinematic journeys as well as storytelling which I’m looking forward to working with.

“Iain’s signing is yet another example of The Sweet Shop’s ongoing commitment to high-end craft and storytelling.”
