AUCKLAND, Today: It was a busy day for the NZ industry yesterday, with two big awards shows – which led to a few number miscounts in our email (the emailed files were beautifully art-directed, but in formats that involve much copying-and-pasting).

So this morning we have a few updates ….

Special shines at AWARD
Special co-founder/ceo/cco Tony Bradbourne wrote: “Just a quick correction on the AWARD finalists count.

“You had us just down as Special Group AUNZ with seven finalists), and Special Group NZ with one.

“Actually, Special Group – an independent agency founded in NZ – has 32 finalists.

“Our NZ office has 15 in total …

  • Special NZ (co-entered with AUS office) has 7 for TNZ Good Morning World
  • Special NZ has 8 for TNZ NZ says 39 (2) and Uber Eats Shark Bait (6).

“Hopefully some of them go on for higher honours!”

Ed says: “That’s a fantastic score, Tony – right up there with DDB NZ’s remarkable 36.”

TBWA\ x 2 @ D&AD
TBWA Auckland’s score was also underrated in our recent D&AD article.

TBWA has four – all for ANZ Mr Humfreez (in Product Design, Direct Innovation, Direct Mail and Impact – Design/Brands).

The agency’s PR head, Angelina Farry, writes: “Thanks for getting the 2nd Chance Charlie story up for us, and for mentioning TBWA in your D&AD article.

“It notes we have two finalists, but we actually have four – all for ANZ Mr Humfreez (in Product Design, Direct Innovation, Direct Mail and Impact – Design/Brands).”

OMD’s Beacon on toast
And finally a quote from OMD ceo Nigel Douglas on his agency’s huge Beacons win …

“We’ve been working hard on our culture and capability over the last few years so it was great to see it reach fever pitch on Wednesday night.

“It’s very satisfying to be recognised for some of the great work coming out of the agency.

Big high fives to our team, clients and partners.”
