BUSAN, SOUTH KOREA, Today: The Ad Stars 2020 Awards have confirmed the appointment of three Kiwis to its preliminary jury – Big CD Joe Holden, Stanley St CD Kim Ellison, and FCB ECD Peter Vegas.

Their details an images have been posted overnight on the Ad Stars website (scroll down for the link).

“Thanks for this,” the trio told M+AD, who (with trepidation) had recommended them for the jury role.

To which Ed Gapes responded: “This is a free comp to enter, so there’s bound to be heaps of entries, and the jury role will be onerous, to put it mildly.

“M+AD thought we should be apologising to the Kiwis for dobbing them in!”

“We thought we should be apologising to these Kiwis for dobbing them in!”

The 13th Ad Stars festival will run over three days from Thursday 20 August to Saturday 22 August.

The awards are judged in two phases beginning with the preliminary stage, which is currently taking place remotely. Thirty-five Final Judges – yet to be announced – will then (hopefully) travel to Busanto vote on the Grand Prix, Gold, Silver, Bronze and Crystal winners.

Last year, the festival received 20,645 entries from 60 countries. Past NZ judges at Ad Stars include Kim Pick and Toby Talbot.
