AUCKLAND, Monday: MediaWorks Radio has launched digital audio ad insertion technology on rova, an initiative developed in partnership with OMG.
The technology launched this month and is available on rova, the official streaming and on demand platform for The Edge, The Edge TV, The Rock, More FM, The Breeze, The Breeze TV, The Sound, Mai FM, George FM and Magic.
Powered by Triton Digital, the technology delivers audio advertisements within the Music+ and Podcast channels on rova.
rova has approximately 700,000 downloads, is available from the Apple and Google Play stores as well as through connected devices including Chromecast, Sonos and Alexa.
MediaWorks Radio group content director Leon Wratt said: “Radio is a mature platform and we must continue to innovate in order to achieve growth across our platforms.
“All commercials which air on terrestrial stations are included within rova live streams.”
“This initiative is an important step in our continued digital evolution – the introduction of digital audio ads will enable further ad-tech development in the exciting world of audio streaming.”
MediaWorks acting commercial director Gareth Codd said: “The number of streams on rova continues to grow exponentially year-on-year. The platform has delivered over 25 million streams in the first half of 2020, a 129% increase versus the same-time-last year – an incredible result.”
OMG chief investment officer Scott Keddie said: “Omnicom Media Group is committed to working with our partners to bring new and innovative opportunities to the New Zealand advertising market.
“We see the role of digital audio continuing to grow in the coming years and are pleased to partner with rova to further drive this momentum for our clients.”
