WELLINGTON, Monday: A team of local businesspeople – curated by the region’s economic development/events/promotions agency WellingtonNZ, and produced by creative agency EightyOne – has put together a campaign to attract skilled people to the capital (Whanganui-a-Tara).
Ten businesses tell their stories of how they embraced the ‘Wellington effect’, and succeeded in the creative capital, through a multi-channelled campaign called Only in Wellington.
“There’s a creative energy and sense of resilience, whether it’s the people you meet or the places you go,” says Joe Harawira, founder of creative promo outfit 3 Māori Boys. “Once you embrace the city, you feel it,”
The campaign includes Joe Harawira of 3 Māori Boys, Rachel Taulelei from Oho design agency, Claire & James Fuller from Hnry (tax advisors), Sonya Williams of Sharesies, Sir Richard Taylor and Tania Rodger of Wētā Workshop, Roman Jewell founder of Fix & Fogg (organic spreads manufaturer), Lorenzo Bresolin of pizza developers Scopa & 1154, Jos Ruffell from Garage Project, Wellington On a Plate’s Sarah Meikle, and Delivereasy’s Nick Foster.
Todd Barberel, WellingtonNZ GM of marketing & communications, said: “The Only in Wellington campaign aims to highlight what is possible in a region renowned for creativity.
