A former adman – now living in the south of France – wants to sell two key NZ advertising URLs he picked up when he was job-hunting in Auckland in 2003. The sites Nick Morgan wants buyers for are www.creativedirector.co.nz and www.creativedirector.nz.
“I am not a Kiwi,” he says – although you may recall I came to Auckland in 2003 and wrote six monthly series on creative thinking for M+AD’s ancestor AdMedia [Sadly, Morgan’s insightful articles have become hard to find these days, due to the demise of the print magazine in 2012. – Ed]
“Unable to find a suitable position in NZ, I took all that learning and put it into practice and achieved the first ever creative Cannes Lion for Indonesia, plus Campaign Brief Agency of the Year (FCB), embarking on what would be a run of five years of Cannes recognition for the individuals/teams I had the good fortune to mentor.
“Finally I came to a halt @JWT Shanghai where it’s fair to say things didn’t work out for many more reasons I have fingers on my hands.
“From there on in I freelanced as a strategic creative/brand builder & provided teaching seminars on the simple steps anyone can take to achieve creative brilliance.
Now time is moving on, and I rarely foray into the world of advertising – pink wine, sunshine and other business activities, plus the kids, keep me very occupied here in France.”
Morgan believes his URLs are generic and suitable for all companies or freelancers that have a creative aspect – including design, advertising, interiors , fashion, retail, magazine, publishing, automotive, real estate, TV, radio – “basically, the list is endless”.
“In my mind they could also form a solid platform for an online portal/business.”
Morgan says he’s in no rush, so he’s prepared to sit on them until an acceptable price is agreed. He also says he has no idea of their true value … so a good deal for both sides could well be available here.
- Both sites are currently live – www.creativedirector.co.nz and www.creativedirector.nz
