The Act Responsible movement returns to the Cannes Lions next month, with an exhibition of the best ideas promoting good causes, from 72 agencies in 32 countries.

The exhibition opens tomorrow (Saturday 17 June) and runs to Saturday 24 June) at the Palais des Festivals, Foyer Debussy in Cannes, at the heart of the Cannes Lions Festival.

For this 16th edition, the exhibition showcases 93 of the best and most innovative ideas produced to promote responsible behaviour and equitable development. This is seen as an opportunity for agencies to celebrate the best side of advertising at the most prestigious event of the industry.

All the global agency networks are involved, including TBWA, Grey, Publicis, DDB, FCB, Interpublic, and McCann.

“The best campaigns have a fundamental power in educating citizens to build a better and more sustainable society.”

“Creativity allows important messages to be delivered in a more powerful, efficient, way and this exhibition not only brings coverage to the causes endorsed, but, it also raises awareness outside the advertising community,” said The Gunn Report’s Donald Gunn, a supporter of the movement.

“This year, certain themes stand out – Education, such as road safety or raising awareness about diseases, clearly caught the attention of advertisers. We also found many campaigns about equality, tolerance, sharing, human rights and the environment, but if this year’s exhibition was to be described in one word, it would be ‘solidarity’.

“Inspire, promote and federate communication on social and environmental responsibility,” Dunn said. “Since 2001, we have been gathering and disseminating the best good causes campaigns, convinced of their fundamental power in raising awareness and educating citizens to build a better and more sustainable society.”

During the week, Act Responsible invites everyone to vote, either in the exhibition or online, for their favourite campaigns as part of the Cannes ACT Tribute 2017. The result will be announced at the festival on Thursday 23 June.
