Know any ad or PR/comms people in the Queens Birthday honours list? Thought not. Eyes glazing over, M+AD waded through the full list … in vain (with the possible exception of Sarah Paykel, who’s done PR work for many charities, but nothing – as far as we’re aware – with the marketing sector).
One who did catch our eye was sustainable business practitioner Rob Fenwick (now Sir Robert), an all-round good-guy Kiwi (and occasional M+AD lunch companion). Another was the King of Ponsonby, Michael Friedlander (now Sir Michael). M+AD ed David Gapes has had a few dealings with him over the years – tough and driven, but not a bad bloke.
