South Korea’s big creative comp AdStars has appointed Y&R NZ ECD Tom Paine as one of 30 judges from 20 countries to judge the 2017 AdStars show in Busan next month.
The AdStars The Kiwi’s most recent judging gig was at the Cannes Lions in May, where he served on the Promo & Activation jury.
The AdStars announcement did not identify the individual categories on which the 2107 judges will sit. Adstars runs over three days – from Monday 21 August to Wednesday 23 August.
This year’s judges come from:

- Taiwan (one)
- Japan (three, including Dictionary Films Tokyo exec producer Peter Grasse)
- Malaysia (one)
- Thailand (one)
- South Korea (five)
- Australia (one – Airbag Animation Melbourne’s Adrian Bosich, who worked on this year’s big Cannes Lions winner Meet Graham).
