NZME has created a new position to oversee its people and culture from a group perspective, and appointed Michelle Hamilton to the role, as group director – culture and performance.

Chief executive Jane Hastings says the group roll is critical as the three companies come together under one roof. “Our people are our greatest asset and the success of NZME will be defined by both our culture and our performance,” she says.

“Michelle has the expertise and experience and is already an employee through NZME Radio where she has worked for over two years. I’m thrilled she’s accepted the position.”

Prior to NZME, Michelle Hamilton was HR manager at Event Cinemas, joining when they were SkyCity Cinemas.  She established their HR systems and functions as it was a greenfields HR site at that time and managed the acquisition component of the chain by AHL and then the subsequent launch of the Event Cinemas’ brand into New Zealand, including the employee brand. Prior to that she had eight years at SkyCity in various HR management, project and leadership roles.

“I’m thrilled to accept this role at such a pivotal time for NZME,” she said. “Our people are phenomenal, passionate, creative and full of ideas. To have the opportunity to harness these qualities and bring people together to build a culture that recognises all of the awesome potential for NZME is a real privilege.”

Hamilton’s appointment will take effect immediately.
