SYDNEY, Today: Uber competitor in the region, Ola (which claims to be “one of the world’s largest rideshare platforms”), is expanding rapidly – and has appointed Australia-based Andrew Balint as chief marketing officer for ANZ. Ola is available in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch (scroll down for the link).

Balint is a key hire to support Ola’s growth across its 10 metropolitan locations in the region. He joins a raft of new appointments across marketing, communications, legal and policy, HR, product and partnerships, as the company accelerates the expansion of its local team.

With more than 20 years of marketing leadership experience, Balint brings with him a diversified set of skills. Having worked across telecommunications, media, aviation, fintech, e-commerce and tech start-ups, Balint has held marketing and commercial roles with Qantas, eBay, News Corp, Optus and Amaysim, where became CMO at the telco’s IPO in 2015.

Balint specialises in digital marketing and has extensive expertise in both customer experience and product, which he will utilise to continue driving Ola’s successes locally. He also joins the company’s leadership team.

“Ola has yet to unveil its New Zealand agency team.”

Balint said: “It’s an incredibly exciting opportunity to join Ola. Digital is in my DNA and I plan to bring this passion to the company, along with my expertise in transformational marketing, to drive entrepreneurial thinking and embed the customer at the heart of every part of the business. I join a team of exceptional, driven professionals as we look to providing the best rideshare experience for both drivers and riders.”

He will play a pivotal role in expanding the Ola business across Australia and New Zealand as it builds on a successful 12-months following the disruptor brand’s first local city launch, Perth, in February 2018.

Ola launched in New Zealand late last year.

Balint has yet to unveil his NZ agency team.
