AUCKLAND, Today: ASB just rolled out the latest bit of their big campaign aimed at fraud and scams awareness. It’s all about keeping Kiwis clued up and alert – they’re the first shield against these sneaky scams.

ASB’s Helen Fitzsimons shares, “Online fraud and scams are a rapidly growing problem here and around the world, carried out by very sophisticated criminals and criminal organisations. Scams are constantly evolving and are increasingly complex so it’s important New Zealanders’ knowledge of scams continues to evolve too.

The goal? To get this crucial info in front of as many New Zealanders as possible, no matter how they get their news or scroll through their day.

“This campaign aims to reach as many New Zealanders as possible, wherever they consume their media.”

“This campaign aims to reach as many New Zealanders as possible, wherever they consume their media, whether that is a phone screen, the six o-clock news or a newspaper, Instagram or TikTok, or during their morning commute.”

The campaign’s got some familiar faces, Ben and Amy from ASB, popping up in a TV ad to show off typical scam warning signs and nudge everyone about personal info safety. Plus, there’ll be catchy bits on billboards and all over social media, including heads-ups on the latest big scams, to make everyone double-check their moves.

As this whole thing unfolds, there’s going to be loads of news pieces, in-depth insights from ASB’s scam experts on TV and in papers, all aimed at beefing up your scam smarts and keeping you one step ahead.

ASB is teaming up with other banks, the cops, and industries like telecoms to tackle fraud on all fronts.
