Somebody give Jim Wilson a medal! The owner of Phantom Billstickers has been publishing his quarterly Café Reader – 60-odd A5 pages of startlingly original writing (mainly shortish pieces by Kiwis, leavened with a sprinkling of NZ & American poetry) – since 2013. This project is a true labour of love; there ain’t a cent in it!

Waikato Times shone at the Canon Media Awards

A regional newspaper was the surprise champion announced Friday at the Canon Media Awards in Wellington. The Waikato Times and its weekend edition were named Canon Newspaper of the Year, heading off larger metropolitan daily and weekend newspapers. Waikato Times also won Weekly Newspaper of the Year.

NZ and Y&R take centre stage in London

Y&R NZ was crowned the Most Awarded Advertising Agency in London overnight at D&AD 2016 (beating out Droga5 and AMVBBDO) with 10 Pencils – including six Yellow Pencils for its work with Burger King on the McWhopper campaign. Burger King was Most Awarded Client. New Zealand finished the show in equal-fifth position with Brazil (30 Pencils).
