AUCKLAND, Monday: NZ-owned and operated Avalanche Coffee – which claims to be NZ’s largest independent coffee brand – has appointed TBWA Group NZ to help drive aggressive expansion plans.

It’s the company’s first fulltime agency appointment. There was no pitch. Avalanche already enjoys the services of a local PR agency – Impact.

Launched in 2001 by Stefan Marusich and Paul Tobin, Avalanche coffee has gone from strength to strength, first in New Zealand and now Australia. Marusich and Tobin have big plans for Avalanche both locally and globally, and looking to TBWA to help them disrupt the category even further.

“Avalanche already employs a local PR agency – Impact.”

Marusich said: “Our business is growing rapidly and Australia, the US and the UK are going crazy for our 99% Sugar Free Drinking Chocolate. We are looking to take our business and our brand to the next level. TBWA will be helping review our brand, design and positioning to ensure we can reach our growth goals.”

TBWA NZ Group MD Catherine Harris said: “What Stefan and Paul have achieved with their business is inspiring, we’re looking forward to collaborating with them to take the Avalanche brand to the next stage, both here and overseas.

“Disruption is at the heart of everything we do and we’re excited to collaborate with Avalanche to disrupt the one thing that so many people love – coffee!”
