AUCKLAND, Today: Bargain Box recently made a big splash to honour local produce and ingredients. They surprised everyone with a visit to one of New Zealand’s iconic spots.

A massive Bargain Box traveled through the country, making fun stops at the giant kiwifruit in Te Puke and the giant apple in Otorohanga. It finally landed next to the giant carrot in Ohakune’s Carrot Adventure Park.

Ohakune locals welcomed the oversized box with open arms. The celebration included a community event hosted by Kiwi foodie Nadia Lim, who discovered the nation’s top carrot dish. The winner? Ohakune local Ashlee Douglas with her family’s secret Carrot Soufflé recipe.

Nadia Lim said, “The carrot is an affordable and healthy staple of our Bargain Boxes. So we wanted to celebrate the hardworking community around Ohakune who produce the bulk of NZ’s carrots and help keep so many Kiwis well fed.

“We’re on a mission to help New Zealanders eat better on a budget. We’re proud of Bargain Box’s position as NZ’s most affordable meal kit.”

Times have been feeling tough lately so it was great to get out there and chat with some of the locals and eat their delicious dishes. Spending time with awesome communities like this reminds you what’s important in life,” says Nadia.

My Food Bag CEO, Mark Winter, added, “We wanted to celebrate the locals who help us deliver tasty, convenient, and affordable dinner solutions to families across Aotearoa. Where better to celebrate than in our very own carrot capital, Ohakune?

“We’re on a mission to help New Zealanders eat better on a budget. We’re proud of Bargain Box’s position as NZ’s most affordable meal kit. As a Kiwi-owned company, we work hard to make tasty and nutritious meals accessible. We also support our communities with locally sourced produce and supplies.”

The event was created in collaboration with the independent creative agency Yarn.
