Bauer Media has turned in-house to replace commercial director Paul Gardiner – who in September moved to a similar role at Bauer Australia. The NZ arm has made permanent the acting commercial director role of Kaylene Hurley, who’s been filling in for Gardiner.

Formerly the agency sales director, Hurley has been acting commercial director since late October following Gardiner’s move to Sydney.

Hurley has extensive experience in the New Zealand media market, and has worked in a variety of senior roles at Bauer Media and ACP, and more broadly in the market with TVNZ, NZME and Ogilvy & Mather over the course of 20-plus years.

Hurley said: “I’m looking forward to exploring opportunities with key partners – we’ve developed an ethos around creating deeply engaging content and audiences, and continue to deliver solutions for clients across multiple platforms.”

Sarah Yetton steps up
A second senior posting at Bauer – also from within – sees agency sales team senior member Sarah Yetton, a seasoned media professional, promoted to agency sales director, the role made available by the elevation of Kaylene Hurley.

Yetton has over 12 years’ advertising experience in publishing but also content and production experience through her roles as a content producer with FCB and studio manager of Liquid Studios.

“I’m delighted to have this opportunity to take a lead on further strengthening our commercial partnerships with our agency clients,” she said. “I look forward to working with Kaylene and my fantastic team as we continue to develop innovative advertising opportunities that deliver tangible results for our partners.”

Bauer NZ MD Brendon Hill said: “These are both extremely well-deserved promotions from within the business. Kaylene and Sarah will continue to drive our customer-first approach with a mandate to drive innovation.”
