AUCKLAND, Today: The 11th annual Battle of the Ad Bands takes place tonight at Galatos, where the MC, Radio Hauraki’s Georgia Cubbon, will be running the show.

Nine agency bands will go head-to-head to take out the Battle of the Renegades and win bragging rights, a bunch of prizes and of course, the coveted Botab trophy.

“Get ready for some serious banter,” says the Comms Council’s Katie Ward, “because we have Radio Hauraki’s Leigh Hart, Matt Heath and Matt Ward on the judging panel.

“Along with some pseudo-famous ring-ins, you’re in for a star-studded night.”

There are no cash door sales but tickets will still be available on Eventfinda right up until the show starts. “We recommend you get your ticket now because we’re down to the last few,” Ward says.

“Lucky Tacos will be dishing out free ones to the first 200 people, so don’t be late!”

“Make sure you print your ticket and bring plenty of business cards because we’ve got loads of prize draws to enter including bar tabs (thanks to Apex Insurance and Big Pop Studios), Event Cinema tickets, Gourmet My Food Bags, and Whittaker’s chocolate!

“Lucky Tacos will be dishing out free tacos to the first 200 people, so don’t be late! Besides, you wouldn’t want to miss Pegasus & the Job Numbers from Colenso BBDO who are kicking off the night at 6:45pm.

“If Mexican isn’t your thing, the NZ Music Foundation has you covered with delicious greasy, cheesy Sal’s pizza. They’ll be selling it by the slice so come hungry and support a great cause.

Band prizes include their biggest hit recorded by Big Pop Studios, $500 to spend on lunch at Prego, the chance to invent an ice-cream flavour for Much Moore ice-cream, a coffee run the next day thanks to eightthirty coffee roasters, and to the Best Performer a $1500 travel voucher from Fortis Travel.

Ward: “Radio Hauraki will bring you shots at the door, Much Moore will be giving out free ice-creams, and Soar Print will be displaying the fabulous Botab artwork.

“So whip out your leather jacket, camo gear, and combat boots and get your bad self to Galatos tonight.”
